Obituary for Ruth Forbes "Lou" Nicely
Ruth Elizabeth “Lou” Forbes Jackson Nicely, age 67, of 4411 Riverland Road, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Sunday, September 11, 2022 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Lou was born September 20, 1954 in Clifton Forge to the late James Brisco and Wilma Gann Forbes. She was a caregiver and private duty nurse for various health institutions. Her interests included playing BINGO and collecting, buying, and selling antiques. She was a member of Living Stones Ministries.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Franklin Jackson, Sr. and two sisters, Susan Forbes and Elva Davis.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Everette Nicely of Clifton Forge; her son, Robert Franklin Jackson, Jr. and wife Amy of Covington; a grandson, Ryder Glenn Jackson; a step daughter, Theresa Nicely of Elizabeth City, NC; two step grandchildren, Luke Lyons of Covington and Grace Lyons of Lynchburg; siblings, James William Forbes and wife Lei Lei of Covington, Jerry Forbes of Covington, Delmas Forbes and wife Gail of Covington, Carol Kinder and husband Harold of Keen Mountain, Teresa Elam and husband Stanley of Toana, Donna Pullin and husband Michael of Hot Springs, and Jerome Forbes and wife Robyn of Covington; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Pastor Mike Rollins and Pastor Matt O’Meara officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Baptist Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Pallbearers will be Luke Lyons, Jessie Forbes, Ryan Forbes, Scottie Forbes, Brandon Forbes, and Cecil Andrews. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Nicely Funeral Home, and anytime at the residence, 4411 Riverland Road, Clifton Forge.
The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association, Mid Atlantic Affiliate “Memorial Gifts”, 4217 Park Place Ct, Glen Allen, Virginia 23060, or to the Alleghany Humane Society, 9313 Rich Patch Road, Covington, VA 24426.
