Obituary for George Marshall Minor Sr.

In the early morning hours of Friday, November 4, 2022, the gracious and almighty Lord whispered in the ear of George Marshall Minor, Sr. and called him home to his eternal rest.

George was 76 years young and resided at 225 E. Locust Street, Covington, VA with his loving and devoted wife of soon to be 55 years, November 17th. Bernedia Perkins Minor.

Marshall was born October 9, 1946, in Covington, Virginia to the late Junius Marshall Minor and Hattie Belle Holloway Richardson. He was a loyal employee of Hercules Inc. for thirteen years however, when the plant caught on fire he found employment with Virginia Electric Power Company, and retired from Virginia Dominion Power in 2003 as a Garageman. George was also a proud service member of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam conflict.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, George Marshall Minor, Jr., siblings Steve Holloway and Ann Johnson.

He is survived by two daughters, Reverend Jolonza “Charmaine” Minor Vaughan and husband, Theodore (Ted) and Monique MarShell Minor Pannell and husband Michael both of Roanoke; a son(grandson), Romell Anthony Hunter and wife Breanna of Covington; four sisters, Brenda, Kim, Robin, Sharon; two brothers, William D. Holloway, Sr. and wife Pat, and Lewis Lowry; two grandchildren, Taylor DeLane Vaughan and Christian Victoria Vaughan; a great grandson, Cailenn Durante’ George Hunter; a foster daughter, Janine McCulce; Honorable cousins, Reverend Beverly Robinson, Tina Minor-Edwards, Elvert “Bootney” Marshall Minor, Deborah “Ba-Sis” Twitty, Charlesetta “Toni” Preston; his special friend, Clarence “Gut” Twitty; special caregiver, Kristen “Kristy” Crouse; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Mr. Minor’s services will be held at Gospel Tabernacle at 415 S Alleghany Ave, Covington, VA. Viewing will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 1:00PM and the funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM with Elder Pete Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Covington.
