Monte Franklin Curtis, Sr., age 73, of 1710 Main Street, Apt 106, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Sunday, November 27, 2022 at his residence.
Monte was born June 16, 1949 in Clifton Forge to the late Thomas and Helen Black Curtis. He enjoyed watching western movies on television, and was a member of Walton Memorial United Methodist Church. He was well liked in the community and a friend to all he met.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, J. R. Curtis and a sister, Jill Kern.
He is survived by a daughter, Crisma Hartsook and husband Mark of Roanoke; three sons, Thomas Curtis of Selma, Monte Franklin Curtis, Jr. and wife Brandi of Covington, and Michael Curtis and wife Rachel of Staunton; former wife and best friend, Debbie Knick Curtis; a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren; a niece and a nephew; and special friend, Cookie Reynolds.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Grover Nicely officiating. Interment will follow in Horeb Baptist Church Cemetery, Millboro. Pallbearers will be selected from friends and family attending the service. The family will receive friends on Thursday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Walton Memorial United Methodist Church.
