Obituary for Frances Margaret Nicely (Powell)
Frances Margaret Powell Nicely, 91, stepped into glory on December 4, 2022.
Frances was a lifelong resident of Alleghany County. She was a member of Longdale United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and assisted with youth outings and vacation Bible school.
She was preceded in death by her husband Arden L. Nicely, her parents Howard and Margaret Powell, 2 sisters Ruby Rumpf, and Peggy Robinson, 2 brothers Buddy Powell and Jack Powell. Frances built her life around family and serving others. She was quick to give, and quick to love. She loved working in the yard, watching birds, swimming at the park and strawberry ice cream.
Left to cherish her memory is her brother Bobby Powell of Richmond, four children, Sandra Moore (Charles), Randy Nicely (Pam), Kristy Casstevens (Mark) and Kathy Fowler (Joe). She was cherished as Granny by 10 grandchildren, Jeremy, Jason, Justin, and Joshua Moore, Kelly, whom she helped raise, and Shayna Nicely, Tara Williamson, Mark Casstevens, Rachelle Pannell and Danielle Fowler. She was also a beloved Granny to 14 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews, special friend and care giver, Pat Conner.
Services will be held at Nicely Funeral Home on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 2:00PM in the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Virgil Woodie officiating. Internment will follow in Central Advent Christian Church Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Pallbearers will be grandsons. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:30PM until 8:00PM at Nicely Funeral Home.
