Obituary for Reverend David Lewis Decker

Reverend David Lewis Decker, age 79 years of age, of Clifton Forge, Virginia, left this world to enter his Heavenly home on January 11, 2023 at 6:20 am.
He was born in Logan County, West Virginia on January 27, 1943 to the late Carson and Ruby Clark Decker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Daniel, Joe, Carson, Andy, Charlie, and Mark; and a sister, Kay. He was also a widower twice. He was first married to Terrie Boehm Decker for 37 years. She passed away on December 5, 2003. He then married Ruby Nell Skelton Decker in 2009 and she predeceased him in 2018.
He is survived by one sister, Linda Kay, of Logan, WV; four sons, Donnie, Kevin, Nick (wife, Kim), and Dave (wife, Jennifer), all of Michigan. He is also survived by a niece, Anna Bias Hudson (husband, Buddy), whom he loved and considered as his own daughter, along with her children and grandchildren of Madison, WV; a special nephew, Teddy Joe Bias (wife, Pauline) of Clifton Forge, VA who lovingly cared for him until his passing; a special great nephew Teddy Joe Bias II (T.J.); 6 grandchildren, Nick II, Dustin, Erika, Brooklyn, Caleb, and Aaron; and2 great grandchildren, Ava and Kylo.
David enlisted in the United States Army on May 12, 1964 and was honorably discharged on May 10, 1966. He served in the Vietnam Conflict as a Radio Communication Specialist. After his military service, he married Terrie Boehm of Blair, WV and was a loving husband for 37 years. David worked several jobs until moving to the Detroit area where he began a career devoted to Ford Motor Company, retiring after 37 years. David served as an Associate Pastor in 2 different churches, before serving as a Senior Pastor at Light House Full Gospel Church in Lincoln Park, Michigan. When Terrie passed in 2003, David moved to Tennessee, met Ruby Nell Skelton, and was married until she passed in 2018. While living in Tennessee, he pastored 3 different churches of the Methodist denomination. He relocated to Clifton Forge, Virginia in February of 2019, while recovering from a complicated hip surgery. David had several health complications that led to admission to a local skilled nursing facility, in which he contracted the COVID 19 disease that ultimately led to his death on January 11, 2023, only 16 days short of his 80th birthday.
David had an extremely impressive work ethic. He loved his God, and his family, as well as his Spiritual family. He was very dedicated to his church and served faithfully in prayer and attendance as often as possible! He was loved by all who knew him and was honored to have a host of friends and loved ones who supported him.
David will be honored by a graveside military service on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM in Michigan Memorial Park, Flat Rock, Michigan. Following the service, there will be a Celebration of Life service at 2:00 pm at River of Life Assembly of God Church in Belleville.
