Obituary for William Henry "Billy" Long Jr.
William Henry “Billy” Long, Jr., age 64, of Fincastle, Virginia passed away Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, Virginia.
He was born March 15, 1958 in Clifton Forge, Virginia to the late William Henry Long, Sr. and Doris Mae Painter Long Nicely. He was a retired delivery driver for the United Parcel Service. He was a member of Fincastle Baptist Church and the Teamsters Union. He loved hunting, drag racing and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, William Bradley Long, and Wesley Brandon Long; and his stepfather, David Grey Nicely.
He is survived by a son, Andrew Long and wife, Amber of Fincastle; a daughter, Meagan Johnson and husband, Blake of Roanoke; a sister, Pamela Lipes of Buena Vista; a brother, Christopher Long of Iron Gate; three grandchildren, Isaiah Long, Novah Long and Hadley Johnson; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 6:00PM in the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Gene Ayers officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00PM until time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
