Obituary for James Michael "Mike" Simmons
James Michael “Mike” Simmons, age 65, of 433 Winding Way, Covington, Virginia died Monday, February 13, 2023 at The Springs Nursing Home in Hot Springs, Virginia.
Mike was born December 3, 1957 in Clifton Forge, Virginia to the late Henry Aubrey and Margaret Hall Simmons. He was employed for over 25 years with WestRock, and was a member of Parrish Court United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Cynthia Clinedinst Simmons.
He is survived by his mother-in-law, Betty Clinedinst of Covington; a sister, Joyce Perkins and husband Chuck of Florida; a brother, Dennis Simmons and wife Sherry of Covington; and a number of cousins; as well as a special niece, Marie Simmons and a special nephew, Stuart Simmons, wife Jordan, and their daughter, Julianna.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Mr. Chris Fisher officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Covington. The family will visit with friends on Thursday evening from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Nicely Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, Central & Western Virginia Chapter, 355 Rio Road West Suite 102, Charlottesville, VA 22901.
