Obituary for Patricia Mae Nicely

Patricia Mae Nicely or known to her many friends and family as Trish, Trisha, or Patricia Mae, age 67, of Charleston, South Carolina and formerly of Clifton Forge, Virginia died Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke. She brightened every room she walked into with her infectious smile and charm.

She was born August 19, 1955 in Clifton Forge, Virginia to Audrey Helms Nicely and the late Winfred V. Nicely, Sr. She graduated from Alleghany High School in 1973 and attended Virginia Intermont College in Bristol. She then graduated from Radford College in 1978 with her B.S in Interior Design. Patricia spent time in Roanoke, Virginia and Treasure Island, Florida before landing a job in sales for Phillip Morris, Inc. her professional career began in Galax, Virginia and then Forrest, Virginia where she spent most of her life before finding the perfect home in Charleston, South Carolina. During her time in Forrest, she actively supported Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Lynchburg and was honored to be “Big Sister” to an exceptional girl named, Latoya. She was an avid University of Virginia fan and she loved to travel. Although her time on Earth was cut short, it was a life well lived.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Tom and Celia Helms and her paternal grandparents, Earl and Thelma Nicely.

She is survived by her mother, Audrey Helms Nicely; a brother, W.V Nicely, Jr. both of Clifton Forge; two aunts, Ellen Snead of Richmond and Dorothy Nicely of Clifton Forge; three nieces and nephews, Mandy Selman and husband, Chris, John Berkley Nicely and Molly Nicely; two great nephews, Evan Selman and Cooper Nicely; and a number of cousins, including special cousins, Steve Nicely, Stephanie Nicely and Tim Nicely.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at 3:00PM in the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Mr. Chris Fisher and Reverend David Hanks officiating. Internment will follow in Central Advent Christian Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Pallbearers will be Brad Hutchinson, Glenn Whorley, Steven Nicely, Jr., Stephen Nicely, Larry Hinkle, John Berkley Nicely, Matt Walton, and Chris Selman. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Nicely Funeral Home.
