Obituary for Betty Lou Reid (Law)

Betty Lou Law Reid, 88, of 824 N. Rockbridge Ave, Covington, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was the beloved wife of the late Walter H. Reid, Sr. Betty was born February 9, 1935 in Bath County, the daughter of the late James E. and Virgie Beverly Law.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Charlotte Mullins, Jackie Law, Frankie Law, James Law and Edna Reid. Also her son, Earl Hall, her great-grandson Ian Hall and great-granddaughter Abree Walters.

Surviving are her children Staria Knick whom was her special primary caregiver for eight and a half years and husband Kevin, Hank Reid and wife Cindy, Joe Reid, Angela Alt and husband Billy, Tina Lipes and husband Kirk and her “other daughter” Elaine Price. Also her daughter-in-law Brinda Hall; 13 grandchildren, Zane Hall, Adam Hall, Travis Hall, Amanda Knick Walters, Amber Reid McNown, Tiffany Reid Smith, Matthew Boone, Harley Forbes, Haley Forbes, Tara Alt Estler, Devan Alt, Katelyn Lipes Winand, Hannah Lipes, 24 great-grandchildren, Breanna Hall Hunter, Whitney Nida, Zayne Hall, Zach Hall, Trinity Hall, Orianna Hall, Noah Hall, Makayla Hall, Xander Hall, Alisha Hall, Donavan Hall, Reid Walters, Emma Walters, Analeigh Walters, Aria McNown, Elam McNown, Addy Smith, Payson Smith, Maverick Smith, Layton Estler, Knox Estler, Wyles Estler, Sutton Alt, Lena Alt, 2 great-great-grandchildren; Cailene Hunter, Zangen Hall, 2 brothers; Ralph Law, David Law; 3 sisters, Francis Garrett, Nancy Hoover and husband Larry, Helen Gibson; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Betty was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church for 47 years. She was a homemaker most of her married life but for a short while worked at Halmode Sewing Plant, Custodian at Faith Baptist Church, a volunteer at Alleghany Regional Hospital, and did private sitting as a CNA. She enjoyed gardening, wallpapering, fishing and camping with her grandchildren, playing cards, working puzzles, reading, painting, sewing, but mostly spending time with family and friends. She especially loved spending time at the beach with family and special friend Maxine Epperly.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Faith Baptist Church, Covington. Vistitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until time of service. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Covington. Pallbearers will be Devan Alt, Reid Walters, Zane Hall, Adam Hall, Matt Estler, Matt Walters, Zach Hall, Zayne Anthony Hall, Dustin Winand, and Travis Hall serving as an honorary pallbearer.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest tributes take the form of contributions to Faith Baptist Church, 311 Jackson Dr, Covington, VA 24426

The family would like to thank Gail DePriest for taking such good care of their mom (especially during her last hours). Also caregivers: Ashley Rose, Stephanie Mireles and Christy Uzzell.
