Giles Frederick Dunford
Giles Frederick Dunford , age 80, passed from this world on November 3, 2014 to be with his heavenly father. He was preceded in death by his parents, Giles W. and Naomi Myrtle Akers Dunford; three brothers Douglas P., Jack B. and Billy Dunford; two sisters, Dorothy Thompson and Betty Miller; and one great granddaughter, Eden Corinne Johnston. Fred is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Wanda U. Craft Dunford; four daughters, Gail Forren and husband Wayne, Debbie Brumfield, Cindy Reid and husband Hank, as well as Sherry Hosey and husband Tim; five grandchildren, Shannon Johnston and husband Josh, T.J Hosey Jr., Stacy Anderson and husband Steven, Amber McKnown and husband Patrick, and Tiffany Smith and husband Brian; a sister, Edith Boerner ; sister-in-law, Margarite Dunford; seven great grandchildren, Aiden Rather, Braylon Johnston, Isabelle Hosey, Adyson Hosey, Karson Anderson, Adalyn Smith and Payson Smith; and a number of nieces and nephews. Fred loved life: the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening, hiking and those he spent his time with. He was an Army Veteran who served after the Korean War. After returning to United States, he was employed at MeadWestvaco for 39 years and retired in January of 1996 as a Utility Operator. He was a faithful and loyal member of Faith Baptist Church for 36 years. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 2:00 PM in Faith Baptist Church, Covington with Reverend Billy Price officiating, assisted by associate pastors John Burnham and Jeff Riley. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Covington. Pallbearers for the service include long-time friends: Bud Shires, Doug Shires, Bill Whitt, Robert Smith, Mike Wade, Steve All, Bill Kelly and Fred Ambrose. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Doyle, Thorton Shinault, and Larry Cluck. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday from 1:00 PM until time of service at the church. Funeral arrangements are being directed by Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge, Va.
