Roscoe Sylvester Pierce Sr.
Roscoe Sylvester Pierce, Sr., age 81, of 23697 Botetourt Road, Eagle Rock, Virginia died Monday, September 14, 2015 at LewisGale Hospital - Alleghany in Low Moor. He was born August 13, 1934 in Lick Run, Virginia to the late Irving and Erma Pierce. He attended the Jefferson School in Clifton Forge, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Iron Gate, where he served as a member of the Trustee Board and devoted his time to the maintenance and upkeep of the church. He was a body and fender mechanic for Garten Ford, retiring after forty years. He loved spending time with his family and working in his yard. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Ray; a brother, Joe Pierce; and a son Gary Wayne Pierce. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Crawford Pierce of Eagle Rock; five children, Reva Ware and husband Reginald of Upper Marlboro, MD, Donna Granby of Waldorf, MD, Roscoe Pierce, Jr. and wife Luscinda of Covington, Rosalind Braxton of Waldorf, MD and Kevin Pierce and wife Dawn of Covington; seven grandchildren, Megan Pierce, Chelsea Pierce, Ethan Pierce, Kameron Pierce, MaKenzie Braxton, Derrick Sizemore and Ryan Jeter; three great grandchildren, Noah Arterberry, Brooklynn Arterberry and Julianna Cooper; a brother, Harold Pierce of Roanoke; two brothers-in-law, Larry Crawford of Alexandria and Ken Brewer of Manassas; a sister-in-law, Marion Carter and husband Sonny of Manassas; a special niece, Valerie Starkey and husband Steve, and God sister, Lorraine Cooper; as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the First Baptist Church of Iron Gate with Reverend Harold Preston officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. The family will receive friends on Friday morning one hour prior to the service at First Baptist Church of Iron Gate.
