James Monroe "Jamie" Brown Jr.
James Monroe “Jamie” Brown, Jr., age 62, of 740 Lowell Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem. He was born August 6, 1954 in Alleghany County, Virginia to the late James Monroe Brown, Sr. and Agnes Fridley Persinger Brown Via. He served as P.F.C. in the United States Marine Corp., and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a retired electrical worker for H & M Electric and ELCOM Electric Company, and attended the Light House Pentecostal Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rhonda Simmons; a step father, Marvin Via; two half-brothers, Tommy Persinger and James Douglas Brown; and two half-sisters, Patricia Ann Groves and Paula Jean Wilmer. He is survived by a son, Jamie “Eagle” Brown of Clifton Forge; a half-brother, Jack Nelson Persinger of Covington; two grandchildren, Whitney Alexis Brown and Khloe Payge Combs; a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friends, Rickey Dobbs, Walter Adams, Darlene Angle, Jerome McGuire, Phillip Hogg, and Stanley Nicely. A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, November 11, 2016 at 11:00 AM in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor with Reverend Gordon Hammond officiating. Interment will immediately follow. There will be no formal visitation. Friends may call anytime at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Blue Ridge Cancer Center, 2013 South Jefferson Street, Roanoke, VA 24014.
