Donald  Lee  Haines Sr.
Donald Lee Haines, Sr, age 81, of Millboro, Virginia died Friday, May 26, 2017 at his residence. He was born September 4, 1935 in Fairfax County, Virginia to the late Archie Lee Haines and Frances Bray Haines. He served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1957 in Europe and retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons as a Lieutenant. He was a former member of Fairfax Baptist Church and was an avid Florida State Seminoles fan who enjoyed hunting, fishing, outdoors and woodworking. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Irene Wilmer Haines; a sister, Joan Jordan and her husband Jim; and a brother, Herbert Haines. He is survived by his daughter, Debra S. Luttjohann of Roanoke; a son, Donald L. Haines Jr. and wife Suzanne of Tallahassee, FL; a brother, Kenneth R. Haines and wife Joy of Elkton; a sister-in-law, Elaine Haines of North Carolina; two grandchildren, Brandy Hemsley and husband Mike of Lebanon, OR and Christina Hedges and husband Jeremy of Roanoke; four great grandchildren, Alex Luttjohann-Copp, Jeanette Hedges, Nicholas Rogers, and Noah Rogers. The family would like to extend a special thank you for their kind care and concern to Mountain Regional Hospice, Dianne Kouns, Cassie Scott, Terry and Mary Margaret King, and Jenny Taylor.A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 2:00 PM in Central Advent Christian Cemetery, Clifton Forge with Mr. Kenneth Haines officiating. Interment will follow. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033, Veterans of Foreign Wars of Covington. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home, friends may visit at the cemetery. Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge is handling the arrangements.The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers, PO Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422 or to the Autism Society, 4340 East-West Highway, Suite 350, Bethesda, MD 20814.
