Obituary for
Frank S. Unroe
Mr. Frank S. “Moose” Unroe, age 73, of 706 Railroad Avenue, Iron Gate, died Friday, September 21, 2007 at his residence. Mr. Unroe was born on October 10, 1933 in Iron Gate, Virginia. He was the son of the late William Lewis Unroe and Mary Maggie Painter Unroe. He was a retired maintenance mechanic from H. O. Canfield Company and Lydall. He was a member of the Virginia National Guard. Mr. Unroe is survived by two sons, Chuck Unroe and wife Karen of Clifton Forge, and Scott Unroe and wife Deborah of Iron Gate; eight grandchildren, Travis Unroe of Richmond, Allison Unroe of Homestead, FL, Nathan Unroe of Daleville, Heather Unroe of Iron Gate, Zac Unroe of Richmond, Hallie Unroe of Richmond, Rebecca Unroe of Iron Gate, and Madelaine Unroe of Clifton Forge; two sisters, Stella Lowman of Clifton Forge and Rita Unroe of Iron Gate; two brothers, Harmon “Snook” Unroe of Kent, OH and Vincent “Benny” Unroe of Clifton Forge; three sister-in-laws, Nancy Unroe of Iron Gate, Nancy Balser and Judy Miller both of Covington; Special Niece, Marilyn “Bo” Bliss of Iron Gate; Former daughter-in-law, Beth Unroe of Richmond; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Unroe was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda King Unroe; two sisters, Hallie Bliss and Mildred Campbell; and two brothers, Pete Unroe and Garland “Boo” Unroe. A Graveside Service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 24, 2007 from Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor, with the Reverend Mike Warren and Reverend Charlie Johnson officiating. Pallbearers will be Steve Unroe, David Unroe, Doug Unroe, Kenny Lowman, Randy Lowman, Jerry Unroe, Travis Unroe, and Nathan Unroe. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge and at other times at the residence of Scott Unroe, 902 Commerce Avenue, Iron Gate, VA. The family suggest that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to your local Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
