Janie Mae Entsminger Underwood
Janie Mae Underwood, age 84, of 123 T. C. Walker Road, Millboro, Virginia died Friday, August 22, 2008 in Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born August 31, 1923 in Rockbridge County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Robert H. and Katherine Moore Entsminger. She was a homemaker throughout her life and was a member of Millboro Christian Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter; Linda Myers, three sisters: Bernice Grimmett, Geneva Camden, Minnie Wilhelm, and three brothers; Glenn Entsminger, Raymond Entsminger and Paul Edward Entsminger. She is survived by her husband of fifty-two years, Elbert Underwood, two sons; Larry Entsminger and wife Liz, and Gene Entsminger, all of Millboro, a step-son; Bobby Smith and wife Dorothy of Raphine, and Bobby’s daughter, Teresa Arehart of Roanoke. She is also survived by a brother; Robert Milton and wife Evelyn, of Colonial Heights, six grandchildren, Calvin Myers and wife Pam of Staunton, Julie Simmons and husband Jeff of Millboro, Michael Entsminger and girlfriend Maria of Fishersville, Crystal Tinsley of Lexington, Brandon Entsminger and wife Anne of Buena Vista, Tabatha Fish and husband Sam of Fairfield, four great–grandchildren, Ian Myers, Bo Simmons, Johnathan and Sidney Roberts, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 25, 2008 at 11:00 AM from Millboro Christian Church with the Reverend David Williams and Reverend Jim Reese officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 4:00 PM until 6:00PM at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge. Active pallbearers will be Hugh Myers, Johnny Hodge, George Madison, Kenneth Moore, Wayne Matheney, Greg McMullen, Marvin Eggiston, and Don Harris. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Cemetery Fund of Millboro Christian Church, 82 T. C. Walker Road, Millboro, VA 24460.
