Wesley Edward Unroe (Eddie)
Wesley Edward "Eddie" Unroe, age 67, of 1568 Greenlawn Avenue, Covington, Virginia died Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at his residence. Born October 20, 1943 in Covington, Virginia, Eddie was a son of Alice Doss Unroe Lair and the late Clarence Unroe. He retired as staff sergeant from the United States Army after twenty-five years, having served overseas in France and Korea in the military police. He was a member of Mallow Presbyterian Church and worked part time at the Highland House. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Unroe; a brother-in-law, Wilber Persinger; and a step father, David Lair. He is survived by his mother Alice Doss Unroe Lair of Clifton Forge; a daughter, Hope Palmer and husband Lt. Col. Mark Palmer of Stuttgard, Germany; two sons, Mark E. Unroe and wife Ceri of Stafford and Brandon Unroe of Gaithersburg, MD; a sister, Sandy Persinger of Covington; a brother, Glenn Unroe of Roanoke; six grandchildren, Griffin Unroe, Aiden Unroe, Gwyneth Unroe, Madeline Unroe, Mark Palmer, and Matthew Palmer; and a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted on Friday at 2:00 PM in Mallow Presbyterian Church with Reverend Gary Marshall officiating. The United States Army will present military honors at the church. The family will receive friends on Friday, one hour prior to the service at the Church. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
