Samuel Ledford Webb
Samuel Ledford Webb, age 82, of 922 Alleghany Ave, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Monday, July 15, 2019 at his residence.
He was born April 3, 1937 in Low Moor, Virginia to the late Frank Alfred “Polly” Webb and Nettie Helen Matheny Webb. He was a brakeman and retired conductor for C&O, CSX, and Chessie. He was a 1956 graduate of Central High School, was in the United Transportation Union, of the Presbyterian Faith and enjoyed fishing. He served in the United States Army, “Army Security Agency”, National Guard, and Army Reserves.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Taylor Reynolds Webb; and a sister, Bonnie Dobbs.
He is survived by three sons, Walter Webb of Martinsville, Wayne Webb (Amy) of Clarksville, TN, James Webb (Rachel) of Roanoke; seven step daughters, Tina Davis, Candice Tuck, Lisa Downey, Connie Krupa, Carolyn Hixon, Cristine Costigan, Leslie Hayslett ; a sister, Wanda Booth (Terry Loving) of Clifton Forge; two brothers, Frank “Bucky” Webb (Phyllis) of Selma, Jerry Webb (Ann) of Covington; brother in law, James Dobbs of Clifton Forge; two grandsons, Casey Webb and Xander Webb; nine step grandchildren, Misty, Walter, Samantha, Sara, Adam, Ben, Emily, Leighann, Kimmie Derrick; a number of nieces and nephews; his caring hospice nurse, Ashley Boyd along with others from Mountain Regional Hospice; and special caregiver, Ester Thurston.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at 11:00AM in Karnes Cemetery, Low Moor with Reverend Lisa Marshall officiating. Interment will follow.
