Obituary for Martha Rule (Harris)

Martha Rule (Harris)
Martha Harris Rule, age 77, of Clifton Forge, Virginia died Thursday, November 10, 2016 at the University of Virginia Medical Center, in Charlottesville, Virginia. Martha was born December 12, 1938 in Joelton, Tennessee to the late Forrest William Harris and Hester Bracy Harris. Mrs. Rule was a long time dedicated teacher for the Roanoke City Schools and was a blessing to all she taught. She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church in Clifton Forge and was a volunteer of the Alleghany Arts and Crafts Center. She was also a member of the Cowpasture River Preservation Association. She truly enjoyed Mother Nature and her river, feeding her feathered friends and taking long walks with her best friend Zack! She was truly touched by the beauty of God’s work.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. She is survived by her three sons; Michael Allen McClearn of Wilmington, NC, David Alfred McClearn of Hampstead NC, and Mark Andrew McClearn of Willard NC. Three grandchildren; Andrew McClearn, Collin McClearn, and Eva McClearn and special friends, Jody and Kim Lescure of Roanoke Va., along with a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 2:00PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with the Reverend Lynn Wright officiating. Family will receive friends following the service. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Cowpasture River Preservation Association, P.O. Box 215 Millboro, VA 24460 or to the Alleghany Arts and Crafts Center, 439 E Ridgeway St, Clifton Forge, VA 24422
